Planning for August 2018 is IMDSA's exciting Research and Retreat Weekend has started... keep an eye on our website and Facebook page for updates.
October is Down Syndrome Awareness Month
Down Syndrome Awareness Month is a time to promote the skills, abilities and talents of people with Down syndrome. During the month of October, we celebrate individuals with Down syndrome and make people aware of their accomplishments; it’s not about celebrating disabilities, it’s about celebrating abilities.
IMDSA are excited to launch two fantastic fundraising events during the month of October, our very own 3 x $21 Challenge and #UdefineU in collaboration with IDSC! We hope that you'll find it in your heart to give in the name of research and challenge other's to do the same.
3 x $21 Challenge
Our challenge to you is to find 3 (or more!) individuals that can give $21 in the name of research. Once they accept, you then pass the challenge down to them and remind them to challenge their friends to challenge others. It is quite simple and potentially game-changing!
There is very little known about mosaic Down syndrome. The only way to discover what mosaic Down syndrome means for each individual is to conduct more research in all areas of mDs. Please help us as we raise unprecedented funds in the name of research. To find out more information regarding research that has been performed in the area of mosaic Down syndrome specifically, please visit our research page here.
In an effort to simplify the process for you, our families and friends, we have created a short tutorial on how you can participate. Just click the image below to watch the film and if you have questions, please don't hesitate to ask.
Brainchild of our very own self-advocate Casey Morton is the #UdefineU campaign. Self-advocates from IMDSA and IDSC are joining forces and plan to make video blogs defining themselves in their own words. The #UdefineU campaign is the first of its kind and we are blessed to have such a proactive group of people involved. Keep an eye on Facebook and other social media channels this month as the video blogs are released and don't forget to show your support by making a donation.
