Little is known about depression and anxiety in individuals with Down syndrome, and even less in individuals with mosaic Down syndrome. Research examining risk factors associated with depression and anxiety in this population is needed to develop better prevention and treatment programs. The LEAF Study (also known as the Depression, Stress, and Down Syndrome Study) is currently enrolling people with mosaic Down syndrome. Our goal is to reach 75 people with mosaic Down syndrome. To make sure that goal is reached, Dr. Ruth Brown is traveling across the country to meet with families. She has several dates and locations already planned. Dr. Brown and her research team at Virginia Commonwealth University are conducting a study to develop better of assessments of emotional health concerns in people with mosaic Down syndrome. You may be eligible to participate if: You are a person with mosaic Down syndrome between the ages of 12 – 45 years old, or You are the parent of a person with mosaic Down syndrome aged 12 – 45, We are recruiting participants WITH mental health concerns AND WITHOUT mental health concerns. Participation involves meeting with research staff to complete a mental health interview, answering questions about emotions and experiences using paper and computer questionnaires, and providing a cheek swab and optional blood draw for DNA.
