IMDSA Volunteer Questionnaire

We are looking for qualified people to volunteer for our team and expand the scope of our mission! If you’re interested in helping IMDSA and its mission to create awareness and support the greater mosaic Down syndrome community, please complete the questionnaire below.

Vice President (Volunteer Role)

Vice President job duties:

  • In the absence of the President, or if the President is unable or refuses to act, or at the discretion and request of the President, perform the duties of the President.
  • Serve as President for the remainder of the President's term of the office, if the Presidency becomes vacant.
  • Assist the president in all National affairs.
  • Be authorized to sign checks for the organization.    


  • Time Commitment:
    • Flexible: Approximately 1–3 hours per month
    • Increased involvement during fundraising seasons and during the annual research and retreat weekend:
    • March and October: Approximately 1–2 hours per week 
    • Board Meetings: Required to attend the monthly IMDSA Board meetings per year via Microsoft Teams (held 2nd Sunday 7:30pm EST) 
    • Remote / virtual role


Board Member (Volunteer Role)

Role Overview:

IMDSA Board Members serve as ambassadors, advocates, and stewards of the organization’s mission. Board Members provide guidance, oversight, and support to ensure IMDSA continues to advance education, awareness, research, and community connection for individuals and families affected by mosaic Down syndrome.

This is a volunteer; remote position designed for individuals who want to make a meaningful impact while balancing personal and professional commitments.

Time Commitment:

  • Flexible: Approximately 1–3 hours per month
  • Increased involvement during key periods:
  • March and October: Approximately 1–2 hours per week (fundraising seasons)
  • Annual Research & Retreat Weekend: Additional availability during event dates
  • Board Meetings: Required to attend monthly IMDSA Board meetings held via Microsoft Teams
  • Schedule: 2nd Sunday of each month at 7:30 PM EST
  • Remote / virtual role

Job duties:

  • Attend and actively participate in monthly board meetings
  • Support IMDSA’s mission, strategic goals, and programs
  • Provide input, guidance, and oversight on organizational initiatives and policies
  • Assist with fundraising efforts, including participation in campaigns and outreach during fundraising months
  • Serve as an ambassador for IMDSA within personal and professional networks
  • Support IMDSA events, including the annual Research & Retreat Weekend
  • Uphold IMDSA’s values, policies, and ethical standards
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding board discussions and sensitive information

Qualifications:

  • Commitment to IMDSA’s mission and the families it serves
  • Willingness to actively participate and engage in board responsibilities
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Ability to think strategically and contribute thoughtful input
  • Comfortable working in a virtual environment (Teams, email, shared documents)
  • Prior nonprofit, advocacy, professional, or board experience is helpful but not required


Fundraiser Coordinator:  

Role Overview

The Fundraising Coordinator supports IMDSA’s primary fundraising initiatives while empowering families and community members to create and manage their own personal fundraisers. This role plays a key part in expanding IMDSA’s reach, strengthening community engagement, and ensuring families feel confident and supported as they raise funds on behalf of IMDSA.

This is a flexible, volunteer position ideal for someone who enjoys organization, encouragement, and mission-driven work.


Time Commitment:

  • Flexible: Approximately 1–3 hours per month
  • Increased involvement during fundraising seasons:
  • March and October: Approximately 1–2 hours per week
  • Board Meetings: Required to attend at least six (6) IMDSA Board meetings per year via Microsoft Teams
  • Remote / virtual role

Qualifications:

  • Passion for IMDSA’s mission and supporting individuals and families touched by mosaic Down syndrome
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Organized, dependable, and able to work independently
  • Comfortable using email, shared documents, and virtual meeting platforms (e.g., Teams, Google Docs)
  • Supportive, patient, and encouraging when working with families of varying fundraising experience
  • Prior experience in fundraising, nonprofit work, volunteer coordination, or community engagement is a plus, but not required

Job duties: 

  • Assist in coordinating IMDSA’s primary fundraising campaigns and annual giving initiatives
  • Support families and individuals in setting up their own personal fundraisers (guidance, templates, best practices)
  • Serve as a point of contact for basic fundraising questions from families and supporters
  • Help maintain and organize fundraising resources (guides, sample messages, timelines, FAQs)
  • Encourage participation by sharing ideas, success stories, and gentle motivation to fundraisers
  • Collaborate with IMDSA leadership to track fundraising participation and identify areas for growth
  • Help brainstorm new fundraising ideas that align with IMDSA’s mission and community values


Website Maintenance (Project-Based Role)

Qualifications: 

  • Ability to comfortably navigate the IMDSA website and identify issues
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to communicate clearly and document findings
  • Desire to support IMDSA’s mission
  • Prior website or content management experience is helpful but not required


Job duties:

  • Project Phase (Initial Review):
  • Review the IMDSA website to identify broken links, outdated content, or inconsistencies
  • Flag outdated information and recommend updates
  • Document issues clearly and communicate findings to the IMDSA Executive Director
  • Ongoing Oversight Phase:
  • Periodically review the website for broken links or outdated information
  • Communicate any issues or suggested updates to the IMDSA Executive Director
  • Support general website upkeep to ensure information remains accurate and accessible 


Time Commitment:
  • Project Phase: Flexible short-term commitment, approximately 1–3 hours per month until the initial review is complete
  • Ongoing Oversight: Approximately 1–2 hours per month
  • Remote / virtual role
