Our 2026 Research & Retreat (R&R) Weekend will look a little different than in years past — and we are incredibly excited about the opportunities this creates for our families.
This year, IMDSA is coordinating our weekend alongside the international RT21 Collaborative conference taking place just a short walk away at the Grand Hyatt Denver.
As part of your IMDSA R&R registration, families will have the opportunity to attend the Science & Society sessions on Saturday at no additional cost. These sessions are designed to make research accessible, meaningful, and engaging for families and self-advocates.
This collaboration allows our community to connect more deeply with leading researchers while still enjoying the supportive, relationship-focused experience that makes R&R so special.
While final topics and presenters will be announced as we get closer, families can expect a weekend that includes:
Friday
Family Day Out at the zoo (11:00-4:30pm)
Hosted picnic lunch (1:00-4:00pm)
Evening research participation opportunities starts at 5:30pm
Community social time
Guys night out onsite hotel bar and lounge from 7pm-9pm
Saturday starting at 9am
Optional morning roundtable discussions 9am-10:00am
Science & Society sessions with RT21 (held at a nearby hotel) 10:45 - 4:00pm
Evening research participation
Parent social opportunities
Ladies night out onsite hotel bar and lounge from 7pm-9pm
Sunday starting at 8am
Research presentations
Community round table discussions and networking
Continued research participation opportunities
We strongly encourage families to plan travel arrangements that allow them to stay until at least 4:00 PM on Sunday.
This time is especially valuable for:
Participating in research studies
Engaging in meaningful roundtable discussions
Connecting with other families and researchers
Gaining insights that can directly impact the mosaic Down syndrome community
If needed, the hotel will be happy to hold your luggage after check-out so you can fully participate before departing.
The IMDSA Research & Retreat Weekend continues to be a unique opportunity to:
Build lifelong connections with other mosaic families
Learn directly from experts in the field
Share lived experiences that shape future research
Empower self-advocates and caregivers alike
We look forward to welcoming you to Denver for a meaningful and memorable weekend together.
